Dining on a Dime - Part 1

It's Thursday, which means it's DIY day in the blogosphere, well certain parts, at least! (See all the fun on Kimba's "A Soft Place to Land" blog. I'm participating today with my biggeset DIY project to date.

Here’s the skinny: I was obsessed last winter with finding a drop-leaf table. Being a renter, a drop-leaf style allows a certain sense of flexibility in the amount square footage it takes up in a room. You see, I wasn’t sure I would always have room for a four-person (or larger) table, yet I really, really wanted to have the ability to host grown-up dinner parties. I scouted Craigslist for quite some time, and finally found a table with great potential. And it came with four chairs!! A good friend and her SUV drove me out to the suburbs, and with $100 cash in hand, I inspected the table and chairs. Ugly, kinda musty-smelling, but I thought – hey, why not? And, it came with two additional leaves AND table pads! This sucker will seat 8-10 people!!

Here’s the before…
